Lifeguard demonstration/free swim session set for Oct. 3 at Mountlake Terrace Pavilion pool

MLT parks recThe public is invited to participate in a free swim during a Lifeguard Demonstration/Exhibition from 4:30-5:45 p.m., Friday, Oct. 3 at the Mountlake Terrace Pavilion pool located at 5303 228th St S.W.

Lifeguards will practice real time rescues while swimmers are in the pool. Admission to this swim is free to the first 120 participants. More swimmers help make the training more realistic for lifeguards.

The lifeguards will perform basic rescues in the water on other lifeguards who will pose as troubled swimmers. They will also respond to first aid scenarios and practice clearing the pool as in the case of a real emergency.

Lifeguards at Mountlake Terrace Pool train monthly on a variety of subjects including emergency procedures, first aid, CPR/AED situations, breathing emergencies, and injury management.

The Lifeguard Demonstration/Exhibition is just one of the components used to continually train lifeguards on their skills.  For questions or more information, contact Aquatic Supervisor Rose Ploeg at 425-776-9173.
