On May 16, the Library Board presented their annual report and 2011 work plan to the City Council. “In 2010 circulation of books and items totaled 203,450, which is up 6.4% over 2009 and foot traffic increased 4% to 149,000,” said Doug Petrowski, Library Board Chair. “This shows that Mountlake Terrace residents and visitors are taking advantage of the resources available at the Library.”
The Library Board advises the City Council as to the general supervision of the library facilities of the city. The Board’s 2011 work plan includes reviewing reports from Mountlake Terrace Librarian Rosie Brewer, Sno-Isle and Friends of the Library representatives. The Library Board reviews facility needs and supports Friends of the Library. They also promote the Mountlake Terrace Library at the Mountlake Terrace Farmers Market, National Night Out and Friends of the Library Open House.
Chair Petrowski reported that the Sno-Isle Library System recently recognized Mountlake Terrace Library staff for signage, display of materials and the outstanding quality of the programming. He also reported on the condition of the Library facility including problems with the HVAC system and leak in the lobby ceiling, which were recently repaired.
At the conclusion of his report, Chair Petrowski invited everyone to attend the Library’s Open House and Used Book Sale on Saturday, June 11 from 10:00 a.m. to 2 p.m. offering food and activities for the entire family.
