Thirty-two minutes of basketball just isn’t enough game time for the Lady Hawks recently as Mountlake Terrace found themselves in a second overtime game in a row on Wednesday. Last Friday the Hawks fell in OT to Stanwood; on Wednesday night Terrace came out on the winning end with a 59-54 victory over the Everett Seagulls at Everett High School.
The Hawks battled from s deficit most of the night, going scoreless in the first quarter, falling behind at the half 23-15, and trailing after three quarters 38-34. But Terrace put together a 20-point fourth quarter, then outscored the Seagulls 7-2 in the overtime to pick up the win.
Samantha Romanowski led the Hawks with 21 points, while Taylor Smith scored a season high 19 points. Everett was led by their starting guard combination of Kiki Harper with 19 and Darian Rielly with 18.
The Hawks improved their Wesco league record to 2-6, 5-10 overall, while Everett fell to 3-5 in league play, 7-8 overall. Mountlake Terrace hits the road again for a Friday match-up with a tough Meadowdale squad that’s battling for the lead in the Wesco 3A South conference. Game time at Meadowdale High School is 7:15 p.m.
