Kristjanson steps up as the Hawks head to the playoffs

Terrace finished out the last two weeks with 6 wins and locked up second place and the number three seed in the 3A District 1 tournament which starts on Wednesday. The first of the two weeks the Hawks were without their number one pitcher and clean up hitter Rene Bos. Maddy Kristjanson stepped up, and in to get 3 of the 4 wins. While giving up only 3 hits and going 4-6 with a double and 2 RBI’s in a 15-1 rout of Shorewood, Kristjanson earned player of the week honors in the Herald Weekly. She also pitched in a 5-4 comeback win over Glacier Peak, and in her final game on Friday against Lynnwood, came up with a 8-4 victory. Junior Jessie Printz pitched the Thursday game against Oak Harbor for a 4-2 victory.

Last week Terrace played Jackson on Tuesday and got their first victory against them in many years. Rene Bos returned to get the win, Melynda Ward went 2-3, Chelsea Crews and Mindy James both went 2-4. In the final game of the season Terrace went to Meadowdale for the number two spot in Wesco 3A to the winner. The Hawks led from he beginning and finished the season with a 6-3 victory Chelsea Crews went 3-4 with an RBI and a 2B, and Maddy Kristjanson went 2-3 with a 2B and RBI.

Mountlake Terrace will play number 5 seed Lynnwood in the District 1 tournament that will be played at Janicki Fields in Sedro Woolley on Wednesday. 3 teams out of the 8 will advance to the State tournament in Lacey on May 27th and 28th.
