Kim Lindsey/Judy Ryan Mixed Media Exhibit Opens Today

The Mountlake Terrace Arts Advisory Commission presents the Kim Lindsey/Judy Ryan Mixed Media Exhibit at the City of Mountlake Terrace Library, 23300 58th Avenue West.

Kim Lindsey and Judy Ryan are friends, former colleagues, and artists with diverse artistic backgrounds who found they share a common love of mixed media and collage art. Both artists put creativity on hold for a few years to take care of family and pursue other business interests, but each time the friends got together and talked about art, the excitement and energy to create was apparent.

Finally, in January of 2010, Ryan proposed a New Year’s resolution. This “Art Resolution” was to complete one piece of art per month with a “show and tell” at the end of each month. The subject matter was up to each individual artist with the goal of trying new techniques to fuel the creative process. At each “show and tell,” the friends were able to evaluate each other’s work, share new ideas they had seen, and get inspiration for the next month. The Art Resolution was so successful it is still going strong!

Ryan won First Place and the poster award for mixed media at the Emerald Downs Equine Art Show in 2011. Her website can be viewed at www.ryanartstudios.com.

The Lindsey/Ryan show runs through November 30 at the City of Mountlake Terrace Library, Mondays through Thursdays, 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., Fridays, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturdays, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
