The Mountlake Terrace Senior Center didn’t have to look far for their headlining act at this year’s Best Night of Comedy and Crab Feed in November. The group has snagged Mountlake Terrace stand-up comic Kermit Apio for the show.
“I am excited to be a part of a great event,” Apio said. “Because of my travel schedule I don’t get as involved in the community as I’d like, so being available for this was wonderful.”
Apio is a 10-year resident of Mountlake Terrace, living here with his wife and two kids. “We love it here,” he said.
Apio began his stand-up career with an appearance at an open mike night at the Comedy Underground in Seattle’s Pioneer Square in 1989. He is a past winner of the Seattle Comedy Competition in 1991 and the Great American Comedy Festival in 2009, and has numerous television and comedy festival appearances to his credit throughout North America.
MLT Senior Center President and City Councilmember Seaun Richards personally asked Apio to be a part of the crab feed/comedy night fundraiser for the senior center. “He made me aware of the situation and said that my presence could help,” Apio said.
The Best Night of Comedy and Crab Feed is scheduled for Sunday, Nov. 4, 3-6 p.m. in the grand ballroom of the Nile Country Club, 6601-244th Street SW, in Mountlake Terrace. The event, in addition to the stand-up act of Kermit Apio, features a prime rib and all-you-can-eat crab dinner, live music, door prizes and a silent auction. Tickets are $25 for adults, $20 for MLT Senior Center members and $15 for children.
