Jeff Hamilton Trio to perform at MTHS Saturday

Jeff Hamilton Trio will provide instruction to the Mountlake Terrace High School jazz band this Friday, then perform for the public Saturday.

The Los Angeles-based Jeff Hamilton Trio performs this Saturday, Dec. 15, 7 p.m. at the Mountlake Terrace High School Auditorium. Tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for students; doors open at 6:30 p.m.

The trio is made up of drummer Jeff Hamilton, bassist Christoph Luty, and pianist Tamir Hendelman. Hamilton formed the trio in the mid 1990s; he is also a founding member, with bassist John Clayton and saxophonist Jeff Clayton, of the Clayton-Hamilton Jazz Orchestra.

Hamilton has performed with Lionel Hampton, Ella Fitzgerald, Rosemary Clooney, Monty Alexander and Diana Krall, and has played with the New Tommy Dorsey Orchestra and the Count Basie Orchestra. He has served as a studio drummer for dozens of artists from many genres, including Paul McCartney, Barbara Streisand, Willie Nelson, Charlie Byrd, Natalie Cole, Queen Latifah, Michael Buble, Barry Manilow, Dr. John, David Foster and Gladys Knight.

The trio will also be providing instruction to members of the Mountlake Terrace High School jazz ensembles on Friday.
