“Betz was highly recommended by our former Director Don Sarcletti, who worked with him for eight years at the Recreation Pavilion,” said Fisher. “He has demonstrated that he can continue the excellence in recreation services provided in Mountlake Terrace.”

During his service with the city, Betz has obtained a $75,000 grant from Verdant for a new spa at the Pavilion, coordinated the Fourth of July celebrations, managed the Arts of the Terrace and Tree Lighting events, and secured additional summer camp locations for camp programs.

Betz began working for the city in August 2005 as a Recreation Supervisor overseeing youth and athletics programs. He was promoted to Recreation Manager in June of 2013. Betz holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science from Western Washington University. He served as Program and Athletic Director of the Boys and Girls Clubs in Ferndale and Federal Way.

Former Recreation and Parks Director Sarcletti retired after nearly 31 years of service with the city.
