It’s a big week of music at Mountlake Terrace High School starting Tuesday with two days of concerts featuring local student musicians and two MTHS students competing for state honors next Saturday.
The Edmonds School District Southeast Quad Concerts will include students from MTHS, Brier-Terrace Middle School, and Brier, Cedar Way, Hazelwood, Mountlake Terrace and Terrace Park Elementary Schools. The Tuesday, April 24, event will feature concert band performances, with the orchestras taking over on Wednesday, April 25. Both concerts begin at 7 p.m. in the MTHS gymnasium and are free to the public.
The WIAA/WMEA State Solo and Ensemble Contest brings together the 22 regional winners from throughout the state in various music categories to compete this weekend in Ellensburg. Mountlake Terrace High School will be sending two musicians to compete for state honors. Senior Miranda Trout is a finalist in the solo vocal soprano division, while sophomore Lucy Schermer competes in solo flute-piccolo.
For any and all MTHS students who enjoy singing, tryouts for the 2012-2013 school year choral groups are this week. For more information about the two choral groups, Dynamics and Accents, or to schedule a tryout, students are urged to contact the choir director, Mr. Sullivan.
