Introducing our new Dog of the Week, featuring Righty

MLTnews is proud to introduce our new Dog of the Week feature, with animals from MLT-based Forever Home Dog Rescue. We published a story a few weeks ago on Forever Home founder Diane Swanberg.

This week’s dog is Righty, a handsome eight-year-old pitbull. Swanberg requested that we feature Righty because he needs leg surgery. Here is Righty’s story, with information at the end about how you can adopt him or donate to his surgery:

My previous owners weren’t always that nice to me. When I got older and injured my leg they just left me at a vet clinic and never came back to pick me up. Somebody there was kind enough to keep me there and saved me from a shelter for almost one year. It wasn’t too bad living there I met a lot of nice dogs and people when hanging out in the office but I still missed my own home and family especially at night. Finally I found a rescue and foster family that took me home. I am so happy to be living with other dogs and a family again. I love to go on walks with them and they are happy with me because I am such a good leash walker. I never run away even without a leash. They throw balls for me and I love to catch them and bring them back for them. Car rides are fun and I get to go everywhere with them because I am so well behaved and friendly with other dogs. But the best part is getting lot’s of belly scratching and hanging out on a couch, after all I am older and I don’t ask for much. I do hope to find my forever home soon so I can settle in and sit on somebody’s lap, even though they keep telling me I am too big for that, I still like trying. I have been neutered, microchip, current on vaccinations and flea treated. My adoption fee is $300.

If you are interested in adopting Righty, here’s the process:

  • Fill out the Adoption Application and email it to info@foreverhomedogrescue.org
  • Your application will be screened and you will receive a phone call with more information.
  • A Meet and Greet will be set up. All members of your household (dogs and humans) must attend the meet and greet.
  • Pay the adoption fee, sign the adoption contract and receive the dog’s health records.
