Hundreds of school-aged children and their families participated in the second annual Back-2-School Youth Initiative, sponsored by the Russell Okung UP Foundation. The event was held at the Family Fun Center on the Edmonds/Mountlake Terrace border.

Okung, a 6-5, 300-pound, third-year offensive left guard for the Seattle Seahawks, towered over everyone as his foundation handed out T-shirts and school supplies, offered haircut and gave inspirational messages on the importance of education to the crowd gathered in the parking lot of the amusement center on 220th Street Southwest.

The Russell Okung UP Foundation, a non-profit organization started by Okung and members of his family, seeks to inspire young people to pursue education and social responsibility.
