Help Seahawks flag fly again in MLT

12th man flagIn past years, Mountlake Terrace has shown its support for the Seattle Seahawks by flying the “12th Man” flag on the city’s water tower. With the team continuing its playoff run this weekend, there is renewed interest, but a new flag is needed. City Clerk Virginia Olsen notes that the original one, purchased in 2006 via donations by city employees, is worn out, “having been flown on numerous occasions in past years.”

Today, MLTnews is kicking off a community fundraising drive to purchase a new 10-foot-by-15-foot 12th Man flag — estimated to cost about $600 — so that it once again can proudly be installed on the tower.

Olsen said the city will accept donations at Interim City Hall, 6100 219th St. S.W., Suite 200, during normal business hours. Once enough funds are secured, a rush order will be placed, she added.
