Helicopter Assists in Search for Attempted Burglar

An attempted burglary in the 6700 block of 234th St SW lead to a search that woke up much of the Lake Ballinger neighborhood early Wednesday morning.

The suspect opened a sliding door of a home but soon after the residents woke up and the suspect was scared off according to MLT PD Public Information Officer Joie Worthen. Mountlake Terrace Police had assistance from Edmonds and Brier police departments as well as the King County Sheriff’s “Guardian One” helicopter. From the tips we received, it sounds like the helicopter was searching some time around 2-3 AM.

The suspect was not located and the case has been forwarded to investigations for follow-up.

Thanks for all the tips we received about this from MLTnews readers.

  1. To often we see the report of a burglar going through an open sliding door, many of these doors can be opened with out tools or braking the glass. We all try to protect ourselves, but that sliding glass door is a problem. It does not have a lock, it is a latch. And to many bad guys already know how easy it is to get through it, with out leaving any pry marks. Even with a protection on the inside to keep the door from being opened, the glass can be broken with little noise. There is a security door made for that sliding glass door, you can see them at http://www.patiosecuritydoor.com
We all need to feel more secure in our home.
