Mountlake Terrace was one of many communities throughout the Puget Sound area that experienced urban flood from heavy rain over the past couple of days.
City crews closed flooded streets around the Premera BlueCross campus on Monday after more than three inches of rain fell in Mountlake Terrace during a 36-hour period. Traffic was detoured away from 220th Street Southwest between Highway 99 and 66th Avenue West beginning just before 1:30 p.m. due to flooding at 70th Avenue West. The roadway was reopened to all traffic at 4:15 p.m.
A few blocks north, 216th Street Southwest between Highway 99 and 70th Avenue West was closed around noon due to Halls Creek overflowing its banks and flooding the roadway. Barricades will remain up on 216th Street Southwest until the flood waters recede.
