Hawks Track: Girls beat Meadowdale, boys fall to Mavs

Track Meet:  Mountlake Terrace and Meadowdale, 4-24-14

With six girls winning multiple events, the Mountlake Terrace High School girls track team easily outscored Meadowdale 95-55 in a Wesco League dual meet at Edmonds Stadium on Thursday. The Hawk boys didn’t have as successful of an outing, falling to the Mavericks 80-65.

Terrace’s Chinne Okoronkwo led MTHS with three event wins, the pole vault, the long jump and the triple jump. Hawks placing first in two events were Barbara Biney, 100 meters and 200 meters; Katherine Gustafson, 1600 meters and 3200 meters; McKenna Hunt, 100 meter hurdles and 300 meter hurdles; Hailee Malins, shot put and discus; and Alisha Clingan, high jump and javelin. Katherine Walter also picked up a victory for the Hawks in the 800 meters.

On the boys side, the Terrace multiple winners were Jack Pearce in the 800 meters and the 1600 meters, and Brett Potter in the shot put and the discus. Other Hawk top spots went to Nathan Sparks in the 3200 meters, Andrew Klippert in the javelin and Michael Liddell in the high jump

The Hawks host a huge meet with 14 teams, the Terrace Invitational, at Edmonds Stadium on Saturday, April 26. Events are scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. and run all day long.
