Hawks sports roundup for Tuesday

MTHS logo 2The Mountlake Terrace High School girls soccer and volleyball teams found the road friendly on Tuesday as both squads were victorious in Wesco League matchups.

The Hawk soccer team defeated a stubborn Stanwood Spartans squad 2-1 at Stanwood to maintain their first place tie in Wesco League play with Shorecrest.

The Terrace volleyball team is also at the top of the league standings after a 3-1 win over the Oak Harbor Wildcats on Tuesday. The Wildcats battled on their home floor and were a much more difficult opponent for the Hawks then their 1-7 record may indicate. Senior co-captain Justine Kelly was busy with 40 assists in the match, many of them to her fellow co-captains Madison Eich, with 20 kills, and Meg Roberts, with 15 kills.

Both the soccer and the volleyball teams are back in action, and on the road, on Thursday, Oct. 10; the soccer team travels to take on Marysville Pilchuck, while the volleyball squad will be the visitors in a matchup with Everett.

The boys tennis match against Shorewood that had been scheduled for Tuesday was postponed until Friday, Oct. 11, 3:30 p.m. at Mountlake Terrace High School. Before then, the Hawks will be at Meadowdale on Wednesday, Oct. 9, and at home against Marysville-Pilchuck on Thursday, Oct. 10.
