Both the Mountlake Terrace High School baseball and softball teams ventured south to face Wesco League opponents on Wednesday, and both came away with easy wins in games shortened to five innings due to the mercy rule.
The MTHS baseball team scored 11 runs in the third inning on their way to a 17-4 thumping of the Shorecrest Scots. Michael Hunt has his biggest offensive effort of the season as the junior went 3-for-3 at the plate with six RBI’s and two runs scored.
The Scots have yet to win a Wesco League game this season, a run that Terrace hopes to continue on Friday, May 2, when the two teams finish their three-game series at Mountlake Terrace High School.
The Lady Hawks softball team won their sixth game in a row as they pounded Shorewood 16-4 at Meridian Park Fields in Shoreline. Gabby Calhoun not only picked up the win on the mound for Terrace, but also went 3-for-4 from the plate with a double.
The victory moved the Hawks into a second place tie with idle Glacier Peak in the Wesco 3A South Conference. Terrace will next face the two first-place squads in the Wesco League, first taking on Wesco 3A North Conference leader Marysville-Pilchuck on Friday, May 2, then meeting South Conference leader Meadowdale on Tuesday, May 6.
