Hawks sports roundup for Friday

MTHS logo 2Both the boys and the girls teams of the Mountlake Terrace High School cross country found themselves in tough battles at their only home meet of the year on Thursday; the girls squad just edged out the Lynnwood Royals for the top spot in the tri-team meet, while the boys team finished a close second to the Kamiak Knights.

Top finishers for the Hawk girls were freshman Katherine Gustafson and Sophia Nelson, finishing third and fourth with times of 17:06 and 17:10 over the 2.7 mile course. Placing fifth and sixth were sophomores Ella Schroth and Katherine Walters with times of 17:34 and 17:39. Sisters Mikayla and Malia Pivic of Lynnwood finished 1-2 in the event.

For the boys, top Terrace finishers were senior Jack Pearce placing second at 14:13, just three seconds behind winner Seth Villanueva of Kamiak. Senior Peter Kidane placed fourth at 14:38, senior Nathan Sparks came in sixth at 14:53, and senior Wyatt Allemann grabbed eighth at 14:49.
