Mountlake Terrace pitcher Rene Bos walked just one Meadowdale batter on Friday, but it proved costly as Maverick Tiffany Dewayne ended up scoring the only run in a 1-0 Meadowdale victory over the Hawks at Mountlake Terrace High School.

Dewayne walked in the top of the first inning and was brought home by an RBI double off the bat of teammate Alyssa Rueble. The 1-0 lead held up as Rueble pitched a complete game two-hit shutout for the Mavericks.

Terrace had their chances to put runs on the board, but stranded a base runner on second in both the fourth and fifth innings, then had the bases loaded in the sixth with just one out but couldn’t score.

Hannah Wilcox picked up the only two hits for Terrace in the game as Rueble kept the Hawk hitters off-balance throughout the match-up.

Meadowdale now sits on top of the Wesco 3A South conference with a 2-0 league record, 6-1 overall. Terrace’s record drops to 0-1 in league play, 4-4 overall.

The Hawks are on the road for their next two games; Monday, April 1, they head to Glacier Peak for a 4 p.m. match-up with the Grizzlies. On Tuesday, April 2, MTHS  faces Shorewood at Meridian Park. First pitch is scheduled for 4 p.m.
