Friday is the season opener for the Mountlake Terrace High School football team. They play Lynnwood at the Edmonds stadium at 5 P.M. on Friday, September 4. Here’s what the Enterprise has to say about the match up:
Lynnwood vs. Mountlake Terrace
Game time: 5 p.m. Friday at Edmonds Stadium
Last year’s records: Lynnwood 0-4 in the league, 0-10 overall; Mountlake Terrace 1-5 in the league, 4-6 overall
Last year’s results: Mountlake Terrace 29, Lynnwood 6
Players to watch: The buzz around Lynnwood is that California transfer Typhis Cochran is a player with Division I potential. Cochran was one of the Royals’ top sprinters last spring and brings speed to the backfield. He’ll join quarterback Michael Stanley. Mountlake Terrace is led by senior quarterback Brandyn Eckhart, who set a record for rushing yards by a quarterback in the team’s final regular season game, and four-year varsity running back Casey Ellersick.
Breakdown: Mountlake Terrace returns one of its most veteran squads in recent years and is looking to continue the momentum of last year’s solid season. The Hawks’ experience on both sides of the ball should be a major advantage against a Lynnwood team that is looking to start a new tradition after a winless 2008 campaign.
Enterprise pick: Mountlake Terrace 35, Lynnwood 13
Here’s another great article from the Enterprise about the upcoming football season.

Maybe not as action packed and loud as the 'Big Boy' games of the MLTHS Hawks, but the MTYAA (Mountlake Terrace Youth Athletic Association) Jr. Football teams can provide some good Saturday afternoon fun for local football fans. Some of the MLTHS Hawks team are MTYAA alumni as well… you might see an up and comer blossom into a hard-hitting Senior High Football star!Home games are at Lynnwood and MLT H.S. all day Saturday, and away games are around the area. I looked on the website and the schedule wasn't updated. I'd love to do s post about the games when it is updated.
I've been a busy bee updating the site the last few days… for schedules, go to each team's main page. e.g., for the Senior Red team (7th and 8th Graders) click the Senior Red button… or:https://www.eteamz.com/mtyaajrfootball/news/inde…Did you just look today? Because everything is up to date with the full 8 week schedule up for each team. “Homecoming” is week 3, so come spend a Saturday afternoon watching some up and coming local football players!
