The Mountlake Terrace boys basketball team easily drubbed Lynnwood 80-34 on Saturday night, but Coach Nalin Sood was only half-happy with his team’s performance against the Royals.
“It was the tale of two halves,” Sood said, explaining that he wasn’t satisfied with the effort his squad put out during the game’s first half. “I thought we didn’t do a great job on the defensive rebounding. We gave up 12 offensive rebounds. One of our coaches brought up that we gave up too many outside perimeter shots. And against a team that might be a step up from Lynnwood, that will hurt us. So we weren’t satisfied.”
The second half was much more to Sood’s liking, as Lynnwood (1-2) could only muster two offensive rebounds and 12 points against a more focused Mountlake Terrace (3-0).
Junior Loren Lacasse led the Hawk scoring with 21 points; junior Greg Bowman added 20. Nearly everyone on the roster had significant playing time as Sood was able to rest some of his starters during the fourth quarter.
The Hawks have a few days before their next match-up, a 3A Wesco South game against Meadowdale on Friday, Dec. 7.
