While battling a nagging knee injury that hampered her performance at times this season, Samantha Romanowski led the Mountlake Terrace High School girls basketball team in scoring with an average of 16.3 points per game and hitting for double figures in 17 of her 19 game appearances. Romanowski’s efforts didn’t go unnoticed by area coaches, who voted her onto the All-Wesco 3A South Conference First Team.
Romanowski is joined on the league’s 3A South team by senior Masha Shtikel of Shorewood, senior Alyssa Reuble of Meadowdale, junior Onyie Chibuogwu of Shorecrest and junior Nicole Fausey of Glacier Peak. Romanowski is one of only two sophomores to make any of the Wesco 3A first or second teams.
Hawks Maddy Kristjanson and Nikkie Froehlich also received recognition from Wesco coaches, with Kristjanson being named to the Wesco 3A South second team, and Froehlich receiving an honorable mention.
The MTHS girls basketball team finished with an 8-12 record after starting the season 1-7.
