When you’ve got a good track team, you expect to excel in the big meets. The Mountlake Terrace Hawks did just that at the 2nd annual Terrace Relays held at Edmonds Stadium on Saturday.

A number of Hawks won their events in the 16-team meet, led by freshman Chinne Okoronkwo who picked up three first-place finishes in the girls’ pole vault, the long jump and the triple jump. Okoronko also anchored the 4×100 relay team that placed third. Sophomore McKenna Hunt earned another first place spot for the Hawks, winning the 100-meter hurdles.

In addition, Dahl and Mason were members of the 4×400 relay team that picked up a third place. Dahl had a busy — and productive — day at the meet, also nabbing a third place finish in the 300-meter hurdles.

The Hawks swept the top three spots in the boys triple jump; Gifton Okoronkwo won the event with a leap of 43-4.75, his best of the season. Tye Esparza placed second, while Dahl grabbed the third spot.
