On a cold and rainy Saturday night, the Mountlake Terrace Hawks girls soccer team traveled to face the Marysville-Getchell Chargers in the first game of the postseason, and ended up losing 2-1 to the Chargers.

The game started off with a Charger score right past Amanda Aversano, the Hawks goalkeeper, giving the Chargers a 1-0 lead. Terrace would answer back with a score of its own from Lily Hart, with assists from Riley Zucker and Allison Lorraine, that would tie the game at 1-1.

With seven minutes left in the first half, the Chargers would sneak another goal past Aversano, right in the corner. That would eventually be the winning goal.

The Hawks struggled on defense without senior Nikkie Fro, who didn’t play because of a bruised shin. Fro could possibly play on Tuesday, but her status is questionable.

“Tuesday, we will experiment with more offensive strategies in order to win that game and to prepare for the two games we would have left to make the state playoffs,” said Head Coach Evan Hatch.

The next game for the Hawks will be Tuesday, Nov. 5, when they play Stanwood in a loser-out game at a location and time to be determined.
