After Hawk Dominic DeMiero pitched a three-hit shutout in their opening round game of the 3A District 1 Baseball Tournament, the Mountlake Terrace High School baseball team got another outstanding pitching performance in its semi-final matchup with Marysville-Pilchuck on Tuesday. Terrace rode the arm of senior Daniel Theis to a 1-0 victory, sending the Hawks to the district championship on Saturday and guaranteeing the team a spot in the WIAA 3A State Baseball Tournament later this month.
Theis held the No. 1 North seed Tomahawks to just four hits, striking out two and giving up only one walk to earn the victory.
Terrace’s Jaden Yackley scored the only run of the game in the top of the first inning thanks to a Jason Shevenko RBI single.
Mountlake Terrace will face Glacier Peak, a surprise 1-0 victor over Shorewood, for the District 1 3A championship; game time is set for 2 p.m. at Meridian Park Fields in Shoreline. Win or lose, the Hawks will open state tourney play on Saturday, May 24.

In other MTHS action on Tuesday, the softball team fell flat against Wesco 3A South conference rival Glacier Peak 10-0 in a game shortened to five innings due to the mercy rule. The Hawks are back on the field Wednesday when they travel to Shorecrest High School to face the Scots; first pitch is scheduled for 4:30 p.m.
