After a pair of one-run games this week, the Meadowdale Mavericks and the Mountlake Terrace Hawks ended their three-game series on Friday with a blowout; the Mavericks pounded Terrace 16-3 at Mountlake Terrace High School.

Elliot Reece went the distance on the mound for Meadowdale, scattering five hits in the game shortened to six innings.

The Mavericks, held to just three runs and nine hits in the first two games of the series, busted out with 16 hits in Friday’s finale of the set. Meadowdale’s Dakota Barlament batted 2-for-5, both hits triples, and three RBI, teammate Jacob Hunnewell added two doubles and an RBI of his own in his 3-for-5 batting performance. Maverick Phil Thomas went 3-for-4 with a double and two RBI.

The win kept Meadowdale in second place in the Wesco League 3A South Conference behind division leader Shorewood, who lost their first game of the year, 5-4, to Stanwood on Friday. The Hawks slipped to fourth place with just five games remaining in the regular season.

In other MTHS action on Friday, the softball team drilled Everett 9-0, the girls tennis team fell to Stanwood 4-3 while the boys soccer team was defeated by Marysville-Pilchuck 2-0.
