

Both the Mountlake Terrace High School baseball and softball teams added on to current winning streaks by grabbing easy victories on Wednesday; the Hawk baseball team clobbered the Shorecrest Scots 11-1, while the Terrace softball squad bashed the Marysville Getchell Chargers14-3.
The Hawk baseball team just needed five innings to finish off Shorecrest on Wednesday as the game was shortened due to the 10-run mercy rule. Terrace has racked up 21 runs off of 16 hits in 12 innings against the struggling Scots this week and has now won five in a row.
Sophomore Ben Reijonen picked up his first RBI of the season with a game-ending, two-run single in the bottom of the fifth inning. Senior Quintin Barnard continued swinging a hot bat, going two-for-two and raising his batting average to .314. Jason Shevenko currently leads the Hawk offensive attack ,hitting .352.
Wednesday’s win evened Terrace’s Wesco league record at 7-7; the team is 9-8 overall. The victory enabled the Hawks to stay even with Meadowdale for third place in the Wesco 3A South Conference as the Mavericks handed Shorewood their first lost of the year 3-1 on Wednesday.
Mountlake Terrace and Shorecrest match up for the finale of a three-game series on Friday at Shorecrest High School. First pitch is scheduled for 4 p.m.
The Mountlake Terrace softball team pounded out 15 hits against a slumping Marysville-Getchell team on Wednesday, including a home run by Rene Bos and two round-trippers for Maddy Kristjanson. Hannah Fickle and Hannah Baisch each added doubles in the offensive assault for the Hawks.
The Hawks have won four-in-a-row and have raised their league record to 5-3, 9-6 overall, but still sit in fourth place in the very tough Wesco 3A South conference. Marysville Getchell falls to 3-5 in the league, 5-10 overall.
Terrace finishes the season with four of their final five games at home, including Friday’s matchup with Wesco 3A North leader Marysville Pilchuck. First pitch at Mountlake Terrace High School is scheduled for 4 p.m.
