Happening nearby: Two chances to recycle and shred this weekend

recyclingIt’s almost Earth Day (happening next Wednesday, April 22) and there are two opportunities this weekend to recycle unwanted electronics as well as paper ready for shredding:

On Saturday, April 18, between 10 a.m. —2 p.m.,Windermere Real Estate North in Lynnwood is teaming up with Friendly Earth and Confidential Data Disposal to help their neighbors recycle a variety of hard-to-dispose-of electronics as well as sensitive tax-season data. Large appliances, car batteries, cell phones, computers, monitors, printers, televisions, stereos, ink cartridges, medical equipment and scrap metal will be accepted at this free recycling event. Participants are encouraged to bring up to 20 banker boxes of shredding material. An additional recycle vendor, Sight Connection, will be on hand this year collecting clothing, linens and shoes of any condition to benefit people living with vision loss. The Windermere North office is located at 4211 Alderwood Mall Blvd. in Lynnwood.

On Sunday, April 19, from 10 a.m.-3 p.m., Edmonds Lutheran Church is hosting a free electronics recycling event at the church, 23525 84th Ave. W. Among the items to be recycled: computers, laptops, printers, computer parts, faxes, scanners, appliances, stereos, bicycles and barbecues. You can see the complete list here: www.1greenplanet.org.
