The Global Affairs Center at Shoreline Community College, directed by Edmonds resident Larry Fuell, has two presentations scheduled in the next two weeks — Oct. 14 on Cuba and Oct. 22 on human rights. Both are free and open to the public (small fee to park on campus during the day; evenings are free). The location is Room 9208 in the PUB at Shoreline CC, 16101 Greenwood Ave. N., Shoreline.

Oct. 14: Learn about daily life in Cuba with Tim Payne, who teaches economics at Shoreline, and Tod O’Driscoll, a freelance photographer who lives in Edmonds. The event takes place at 11:30 a.m.

Oct. 22: At a time when human rights violations seem to be occurring with greater frequency, University of Washington Philosophy Professor Bill Talbott will discuss “How to Believe in Universal Human Rights,” at 7 p.m.
