Happening nearby: Mountlake Terrace Police assist in apprehension of suspected construction yard thief

Lynnwood Police, with the assistance of Mountlake Terrace, Edmonds and Mill Creek Police and the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office, apprehended a suspected construction yard thief early Monday morning following a vehicle pursuit.

At about 3:30 a.m., a Lynnwood Police Officer saw a vehicle take off at a high rate of speed from a construction site near Alderwood Mall Parkway and Maple Road. The officer noted large coils of electrical wire in the back of the vehicle (described as a Ford F-250).

The officer caught up with the driver who refused to stop. A vehicle pursuit ensued which went northbound toward 164th Street SW. During the pursuit, the suspect rammed into the pursuing officer by putting the truck into reverse and accelerating into the front of the patrol car.

The pursuit continued to the 15700 block of 44th Avenue W. where the suspect then attempted to flee on foot. A Lynnwood Police K9 soon located the suspect and he was taken into custody.

Police are continuing to investigate to include trying to contact the actual owner of the pick-up truck used by the suspect. The suspect, a 28-year-old man, is currently being held on multiple charges to include eluding, assault, and investigation of burglary. The officer sustained minor injuries.

Multiple agencies assisted during the pursuit and the K9 track of the suspect to include the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office, the Edmonds Police Department, the Mountlake Terrace Police Department, and the Mill Creek Police Department.
