Edmonds police took a 19-year-old Edmonds man into custody just after noon Wednesday after he allegedly fired a rifle into the air in the Yost Park Neighborhood, in the 9300 block of 216th Street Southwest.
According to police spokesman Sgt. Mark Marsh, at about 12:12 p.m. several people called 911 reporting the shots being fired. Edmonds police officers, assisted by officers from Mountlake Terrace and Lynnwood, cordoned off the area and evacuated nearby residents, he said.
Officers made contact with the man, who was in the back yard of his residence and was taken into custody without further incident. Two high-powered rifles were observed near where the man was arrested.
Officers started contacting neighbors “to determine if anyone was injured or any residences struck by any bullets the suspect had fired during the incident. At this point no injuries have been reported at the scene or surrounding area,” Marsh said.
The investigation is continuing and the suspect is still in custody. “Charges will be determined after the suspect and witnesses are interviewed,” Marsh added.
