Edmonds police are investigating a felony assault case that took place at the Edmonds McDonald’s restaurant in the 21400 block of Highway 99 early Sunday morning, sending a man to Harborview Medical Center with head injuries.
According to Edmonds police spokesman Sgt. Shane Hawley, the victim observed what he believed to be a possible domestic violence situation between a man and a woman exiting a car filled with people in the McDonald’s parking lot around 1 a.m. The victim grabbed a stick or baseball bat in an effort to assist the woman, and when he did so the other car’s occupants got out of the vehicle, grabbed the stick from the man, knocked him to the ground and began assaulting him.
The car and its occupants – including the woman that the victim was attempting to assist – fled the scene before police arrived, Hawley said.
The victim was transported to Harborview Medical Center, but Hawley did not have his age, city of residence or condition as of Sunday.
