Happening nearby: Lynnwood man among those arrested in sting

Washington_State_Patrol_patchA Lynnwood man is among six men arrested Sunday in a four-day operation by the Washington State Patrol’s Missing and Exploited Children Task Force.

MLTnews is not naming any of the suspects as they have not yet been charged.

The sting targeted individuals interested in the sexual exploitation of children. During the operation, law enforcement officers went undercover to speak to the suspects online.

The six arrested men agreed to meet with undercover investigators. They were subsequently arrested.

The man from Lynnwood told undercover investigators he would have sex with an 8-year-old and a 12-year-old girl. According to court documents, he sent a text message to an investigator posing as the girls’ mother and asked if he could “have both at the same time.”

He was arrested in Lynnwood. He had an unopened three-pack of condoms on him at the time.

The man has a 3-year-old son who lives with him. He is expected to be charged next week pending a forensic examination.

The other five suspects are from Silverdale, Seattle, Maple Valley and two are from Everett. All of them were also arrested in Lynnwood under similar circumstances – they all spoke online to investigators posing as parents of children to negotiate some form of sexual contact with their kids. Text messages were also exchanged and in some cases suspects spoke on the phone to undercover investigators.

This is the third similar law enforcement operation held in Washington State in the past two years. Since the operations started, 27 people have been arrested and charged with crimes relating to the sexual exploitation of children.
