An 11-year-old boy was taken to Harborview Medical Center after he drove a small motorbike into a vehicle on 44th Avenue West in Lynnwood.
Lynnwood Police Sgt. Sean Doty said the boy was riding in his front yard and lost control. It appears he inadvertently drove into the roadway and struck a vehicle traveling northbound.
The driver of the vehicle has been cooperative with investigators. Doty says it appears the driver was not doing anything wrong when the motorbike ran into the vehicle.
The boy was taken to Harborview as a precautionary measure. He was conscious and breathing normally when he was transported, but doctors later indicated to an investigating police officer that the boy has a minor injury to his face, possibly a fracture, and are conducting more tests and scans as a precaution. The boy’s condition is not expected to worsen.
I witnessed everything from inside southbound lane right next to the black Jetta that he collided with and was first on scene. Thank you to the EMT trainee that was on scene and administered stabilizing the child and giving me accurate information to give to 911 operator.
