Happening nearby: American Brewing Company hosting ‘Fill the Truck’ event for wildfire victims, firefighters

1796565_669853839739513_1060373006_nAmerican Brewing Co. in Edmonds is holding a “Fill the Truck” campaign aimed at helping those families who have been displaced by the Eastern Washington wildfires, as well as the firefighters battling the blaze. Members of the public are encouraged to drop off donations this Thursday, Sept. 10 at 180 W. Dayton St. Warehouse 102.

American Brewing founder Neil Fallon notes that the North Star Donation Center acts as a command post for supplying the families that have been displaced and the firefighters engaged in battling the flames. Recently, America Brewing delivered 22,000 lbs of food and water to North Star.  “When the woman working there saw us pull up, she burst into tears because she had just loaded the last of their supplies on the shuttles to the fires,” Fallon said in an email. “She estimated that our supplies would last them another two or maybe three days. That was just two 20-foot box trucks full.”

On Sept. 13, American Brewing will be driving another convoy of supplies to the command post. They hope to fill two 53-foot semis, a 14-foot box truck and perhaps two 20-footers. Suggested items include:

  • Non-perishable foods
  • Peanut butter and jams/jellies
  • Large jars of pasta sauce, mac & cheese, tuna, trail mix, energy bars
  • Tea/coffee, Jolly Rancher hard candy, lollipops
  • Sleeping bags, blankets, pillows and cases
  • Laundry soap, razors, hand wipes, lotion
  • Ice coolers, duct tape, garbage bags
  • Costco Gift Cards
  • Cash
  • Checks made payable to: Neil Fallon

Any cash or checks received will be used to go to Costco and buy bulk supplies. You can find more information at Fill The Truck Part II as well as donation drop-off locations.
