The City of Mountlake Terrace will be applying for a Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) from Snohomish County of $85,000 for upgrades to the playground area of the Evergreen Playfield complex, 22205-56th Avenue West, following City Council action scheduled for this Monday, Nov 5, at the regular council meeting.

The city is seeking the grant money to resurface the play area, and to install three “ground level components,” two play structures and a two-bay swing to replace play equipment installed at the site in 1990.

The Snohomish County Office of Housing and Community Development has approximately $841,027 in CDBG funds available to disperse to areas of Snohomish County with low- to-moderate-income households. The CDBG funds are being provided to the county by the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development.

The Snohomish County Council is tentatively scheduled to make the CDBG grant awards in May 2013. If Mountlake Terrace wins approval for the $85,000 grant, construction would begin in late 2013 or early 2014.

  1. What a joke, we don’t need to waste money on this. It’s more to profit the pockets of the council member seats! Pay attention people. How many trick o treaters did you have this year? And out of those 10 people, how many are going to want to go to the park? The people who are in position today don’t even live in this city nor have grown up in it, stop passing all these shams.

This is a grant from Snohomish County and United States Department of Housing and Urban Development. Are you saying that upgrading and improving our parks is a waste of money?

“It’s more to profit the pockets of the council member seats!”
Our City Council members get paid $800 a month for their service to the community, $1,000 a month for the mayor. I’m curious as to how receiving this grant is going to “profit the pockets” of the City Council members. Are you saying that these funds will somehow be funneled to City Council members?  That’s an odd conspiracy theory.

“Pay attention people. How many trick o treaters did you have this year? And out of those 10 people, how many are going to want to go to the park?”
Not following here. Trick or treating? Are you saying there aren’t children in our community who use the parks?

“The people who are in position today don’t even live in this city nor have grown up in it, stop passing all these shams.”
Mountlake Terrace City Council members are required to be residents of Mountlake Terrace. Do any of them live outside the City limits. The answer is no. Again, just sounds like you’re making up conspiracy theories because of some grudge you have with the City.
