The Mountlake Terrace High School girls basketball team lifted its Wesco League record to 10-1 and its overall record to 15-3 with a 65-54 victory Friday night over the Shorewood T-Birds at Shorewood High School.

After a close battle for three quarters, Terrace was able to pull away in the fourth by outscoring Shorewood 17-9 in the final eight minutes.

Hawk Sam Romanowski led all scorers in the game with 24 points; teammate Nikki Froehlich added 19, her highest single-game scoring mark of the season. The T-Birds were led by the 19 points of Lily Gustafson.

With just two games remaining in the regular season, first place in the Wesco 3A South Conference is still up for grabs. The Hawks hold a one-game lead over rivals Glacier Peak and Shorecrest; Terrace takes on the Scots at Shorecrest High School on Tuesday, Feb. 4, then will close out their regular season with a pivotal home match-up with GP on Thursday, Feb. 6.
