A pre-Thanksgiving food drive by Mountlake Terrace Girl Scouts has become a big factor in helping a local food bank get prepared for the upcoming Christmas and New Year’s holidays.
Girl Scout Troop 41923 collected 1,407 pounds of food during a drive Nov. 21-23 at Roger’s Market in Mountlake Terrace. The donations were recently delivered to the Concern for Neighbors Food Bank and are now being prepared for distribution to south Snohomish County residents in need.
This was the 16th year the troop has sponsored a drive on the weekend prior to Thanksgiving. Additionally, troop members used any cash contributions to purchase items at Roger’s Market that are not normally donated, such as feminine products and personal hygiene items.
The Concern for Neighbors Food Bank, 4700 228th St. S.W., distributes food to approximately 200 households per week on Tuesdays from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. For more information about the food bank, click https://concern4neighborsfb.org/.
