New to the Tour de Terrace this year is a Barbecue Competition and Chili Cookoff, sanctioned by and subject to the rules of the Pacific Northwest Barbecue Association (PNWBA) and the Chili Association Society International, Inc. (CASI).
For $5, you can taste some of the barbecue during both days (Saturday and Sunday, July 26-27) of the competition.
On Saturday, July 26, barbecue demonstrations will be at 12:30 and 1:30 p.m. with chili tasting from noon-2 p.m.
Then on Sunday, July 27, tastings will be from 11 a.m.-2:30 p.m. Pork is at 11 a.m., brisket at noon, chicken at 1 p.m. and ribs at 2 p.m. The award ceremony will be at 4:30 p.m. at the bandstand. A $5 ticket covers tasting for both days. Tickets sold onsite, at street fair/MLT Seniors booth. Proceeds benefit the Mountlake Terrace Friends of the Arts.
This is an open competition where all contestants will be using their culinary talents to vie for cash prizes and awards. Teams and judges come from the entire Pacific Northwest including Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Montana, California, and Canada. Five thousand dollars in prize money has been donated by Frontier Communications for this inaugural event.
