At an October 6 Edmonds School District Superintendant’s roundtable, Executive Director of Business and Operations Marla Miller gave some updates about the Evergreen elementary property.
Demolition of Evergreen Elementary will begin following the demolition of the the old Lynnwood High School since the same contractor is demoing both sites.
What will be done with the site is still up in the air. According to the City’s zoning code, the site can’t really be used until it is redeveloped and the District is still reviewing what is the best use of the site under the code. Additionally, Sound Transit’s plan to expand mass transit from Northgate to Lynnwood may come in to play. For example, if an elevated track near the edge of the property were to be part of their plan, the District would need to take that into account when marketing the property.
Someone in attendance asked if there would be more than just the one current way to drive to the site, and Marla shared that the city’s long-term transportation plan includes an additional access point to the site, see the figure below from the City’s Transportation Master Plan.
We will keep you updated as more information if released about the site’s future.
So why cant we just turn this into an area with sports courts and community activities?
