Though the last vote counts are still trickling in, Andrew Funk has sent his congratulation to Doug McCardle, who will take position 3 on the Mountlake Terrace city council.
Just to recap, there were four city council positions up for election this year:
- Position 1: Rick Ryan
- Position 2: Jerry Smith
- Position 3: Andrew Funk
- Position 4: Kyoko Wright
Funk recently sent the following letter to his supporters:
Dear Supporters,
Thank you for all of your support this year! I especially want to thank all of you who helped out this year with contributions, doorbelling, sign waving, and vocal support. I also want to particularly thank Stohn Nishino, DJ Wilson, Brian Harkins, and my parents, Kevin and Cheryl Funk, who all helped out in huge ways and made winning a possibility.
As you know, we came up just short of winning the election – garnering 1,915 votes (48.1%), just 134 votes short of victory [votes continue to be counted, click here to see up-to-date results]. But, we ran a good campaign and I met many great people and learned many good lessons.
I want to congratulate Doug McCardle on his win – I think he will make a great addition to the council with his background on the Planning Commission and Police Advisory Board. I look forward to working with him to make Mountlake Terrace a better place.
Best regards,
Andrew G. Funk
