SnoCo logoSnohomish County residents with household items damaged during recent storms can take them to a county transfer station for free disposal with an authorized voucher.

According to an announcement from Snohomish County Public Works, the free disposal program begins Nov. 25, 2015 and ends April 1, 2016. Vouchers for free disposal are being distributed through the Red Cross and the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office, and residents are asked to contact those entities directly for authorization and a voucher.

Eligible flood-damaged items include household furnishings, furniture, spoiled food from a power outage, carpeting, water-soaked plasterboard and appliances (except refrigerators/freezers). The following items won’t be accepted: demolition debris, wood waste and yard debris, concrete, rock and animal carcasses over 10 pounds.

The program isn’t open to businesses. Questions should be directed to the County Solid Waste Division at 425-388-3425.
