There were a total of 37 fireworks-related emergencies this weekend in Snohomish County and several homes were completely destroyed. None of the 37 emergencies were in the city of Mountlake Terrace. Fireworks have been banned in Mountlake Terrace since 2007 and even though it still sounded like a war zone at times, the city’s efforts at deterring the use of fireworks seemed to have worked well this year. Either that, or the fact that most of our houses are made out of concrete blocks prevented fires from starting.
It seemed like the city did a good job with signage so that everyone would know fireworks are banned, hopefully next year they will be able to put on a community fireworks show again.
