Snohomish County Fire District 1 responded to 413 calls the week of Aug. 29-Sept. 4: 292 emergency medical aid calls, 34 motor vehicle collisions, 24 fires, 39 service calls, 1 natural gas leaks and 23 automatic fire alarms.
August 29
DECK FIRE: At 4:02 a.m., firefighters responded to a small deck fire at a home in the 2500 block of 204th Street Southwest east of Lynnwood. Investigators believe the fire was started by a discarded cigarette. No one was home at the time of the fire and there were no injuries. Damage was contained to the deck.
LAUNDRY FIRE: At 2:33 p.m., firefighters responded to an alarm sounding at a multi-family building in the 20700 block of Larch Way West east of Lynnwood. Firefighters extinguished a smoldering pile of laundry. The building was not damaged and no one was injured.
FLOODING: Between 5:30 p.m. and 8:00 p.m., firefighters were dispatched to more than 20 calls for flooding, mostly in downtown Edmonds.
COLLISION: At 5:51 p.m., firefighters responded to a five-car collision in the 3200 block of 148th Street Southwest north of Lynnwood. Medics transported two seriously injured patients to Swedish/Edmonds Hospital and a third patient was taken by private ambulance to a local hospital.
September 1
COLLISION: At 6:37 a.m., firefighters responded to a rollover collision on southbound I-5 south of 244th Street Southwest in Mountlake Terrace and transported two patients to Harborview Medical Center.
SKATEBOARD COLLISION: At 7:11 p.m., a 19-year-old man riding a skateboard without a helmet sustained life-threatening injuries a collision with a utility trailer being towed behind a truck in the 22400 block of 39th Avenue West in Mountlake Terrace. Firefighters transported the man to Harborview Medical Center.
September 2
TRAILER FIRE: At 4:24 p.m., firefighters responded to a fire in a 35-foot travel trailer parked next to a home in the 12800 block of Ruggs Lake Road east of Everett. Firefighters could see a large column of black smoke as they approached. The trailer was engulfed in flames and was in danger of spreading to the house. Quick action by firefighters kept the fire contained to the trailer with minimal damage to the siding of the adjacent house. No one was injured.
COLLISION: At 4:33 p.m., firefighters responded to a multiple-car collision in the 12200 block of Highway 99 south of Everett. Two patients were transported by private ambulances to Swedish/Edmonds Hospital.
September 3
COLLISION: At 6:34 p.m., firefighters transported one patient to Swedish/Edmonds Hospital after responding to a two-car collision at Filbert Road and Larch Way east of Lynnwood.
September 4
ROLLOVER COLLISION: At 1:35 p.m., firefighters rescued an elderly woman after her car rolled and came to rest upside down on SR 525 near the 164th Street overpass north of Lynnwood. The injured woman was transported to Northwest Hospital.
PEDESTRIAN STRUCK BY VEHICLE: At 4:09 p.m., a pedestrian was struck by a car in the 13700 block of Highway 99. Firefighters transported the injured pedestrian to Swedish/Edmonds Hospital.
COLLISION: At 10:39 p.m., firefighters transported one patient to Swedish/Edmonds Hospital after responding to a two-car collision at 164th Street Southwest and 36th Avenue West north of Lynnwood
