Snohomish County Fire District 1 responded to 336 calls the week of March 21-27: 274 emergency medical aid calls, 17 motor vehicle collisions, 10 fires, 10 service calls, 1 natural gas leak and 24 automatic fire alarms.

March 21
FIRE:  At 12:56 p.m., firefighters responded to a report of smoke in a house in the 500 block of 6th Avenue South in Edmonds. The smoke alarm was sounding when firefighters arrived. They located a candle that melted down and charred the fireplace mantle. No one was injured.

COLLISION:  At 3:10 p.m., a collision involving a school bus and two other vehicles was reported at 228th Street Southwest and Highway 99 in Edmonds.  No one was injured. Four children aboard the bus were released to school district personnel at the scene.

COLLISION:  At 8:32 p.m., firefighters responded to a collision in the 6600 block of 244th Street Southwest in Mountlake Terrace and transported one patient with minor injuries to Swedish/Edmonds Hospital.

March 22
FIRE:  At 1:07 a.m., a smoke alarm alerted a resident to a fire in a condominium in the 100 block of 3rd Avenue North in Edmonds. An automatic sprinkler system was activated and extinguished the fire.  Damage was minimal. Edmonds Police Department is investigating the case as arson.  No injuries were reported.

COLLISION: At 3:49 a.m., a three-car spinout was reported on northbound I-5 north of 128th Street Southwest south of Everett. One car flipped onto its side on the side of the road. Firefighters transported one patient with minor injuries to Providence Regional Medical Center Everett.

March 23
FIRE: At 11:13 p.m., an apartment resident was awakened by a crackling noise and discovered a deck fire at a fourplex in the 14000 block of 61st Place West in the Picnic Point area.  All occupants safely evacuated and no one was injured. The fire was contained to the exterior of the structure and caused about $14,000 damage.

COLLISION: At 11:58 p.m., a car left the road at 49th Avenue Southeast and Seattle Hill Road east of Everett, went through a fence and struck a fire hydrant. No one was injured. Firefighters requested Snohomish County Public Works respond because the road was damaged by water flowing from the broken fire hydrant.
March 24

COLLISION: At 8:22 p.m., a two-car collision was reported at 164th Street Southwest and Alderwood Mall Parkway north of Lynnwood. Firefighters used rescue tools to cut off the driver’s side door to reach a patient trapped in one of the vehicles. The patient was transported by medic unit to Swedish/Edmonds Hospital.

March 26
COLLISION: At 7:38 p.m., a motorcycle and van were involved in a collision in the 500 block of 128th Street Southwest south of Everett. Firefighters transported the motorcycle driver and his passenger to Providence Regional Medical Center Everett.

March 27
FIRE:  At 10:03 p.m., firefighters extinguished a car fire on northbound I-5 south of exit 183 in Lynnwood. No one was injured.

COLLISION:  At 6:18 p.m., a two-car collision was reported eastbound on 164th Street Southwest at I-5 north of Lynnwood.  Firefighters transported one patient Swedish/Edmonds Hospital.
