Snohomish County Fire District 1 responded to 334 calls the week of Feb. 28-March 6: 278 emergency medical aid calls, 13 motor vehicle collisions, 9 fires, 17 service calls, 1 natural gas leaks, 1 rescue and 15 automatic fire alarms.

March 1
FATAL CAR-PEDESTRIAN COLLISION: At 6:01 a.m., firefighters responded to a car-pedestrian collision at Airport Way and Highway 99 south of Everett. The pedestrian, an adult male, died at the scene.

March 4
COLLISION: At 3:05 p.m., a two-car collision was reported at 164th Street Southwest and Alderwood Mall Parkway north of Lynnwood.  Firefighters transported two patients with minor injuries to Swedish/Edmonds Hospital.

March 5
COLLISION: At 2:53 p.m., firefighters responded to a collision involving a car and a school bus at 236th Street Southwest and Cedar Way in Mountlake Terrace.  No children were on the bus and no one was injured.

March 6
FUEL SPILL: At 10:23 a.m., an unoccupied dump truck struck a street light pole at 148th Street Southwest and Highway 99 north of Lynnwood and spilled diesel fuel onto the roadway. No one was injured. Firefighters were on the scene for more than hour as crews cleaned up the spill.

HOUSE FIRE: At 11:36 a.m., a house fire was reported in the 2200 block of 136th Place Southwest north of Lynnwood. A smoke alarm woke the resident who safely escaped through a window. Firefighters rescued two dogs and quickly extinguished a fire in the living room. Heavy smoke caused damage estimated at $35,000. Two firefighters with minor injuries were transported to Providence Regional Medical Center Everett for evaluation. Both were released later the same day.
