On Wednesday, Aug 11th, Frontier will be updating their encryption system for the FiOS TV service. If you subscribe to Frontier FiOS TV service (formerly Verizon FiOS) keep reading for how it will impact you. This will impact customers in two possible ways.
1) On Aug 10th starting at 11:00PM, customers’ ability to access Video On Demand (VOD) content will be suspended. VOD content will be unavailable until 12:00PM on Wednesday 11th.
2) On Aug 11th, customers may experience a service interruption between 2:00AM and 5:00AM on all broadcast TV channels. Customers may have no service during this time. Previously recorded DVR content will not be impacted by this cycle and will still be available.
All FiOS TV customers will be alerted to this outage on their screens via a pop-up message. Customers will be shown the following:
“Please check the message center for an URGENT service message from Frontier.”
The pre-event message in the Message Center will read as follows:
“You may experience a service interruption on Wed. We will be undergoing maintenance from 11PM Tue Aug 10th to 12 noon Wed. During this period, On Demand will not be available. Also, 2-5AM Tues you may experience an interruption on TV channels. We apologize for the inconvenience caused by our maintenance. Thank you for being a customer of FiOS TV.”
