Some changes are coming to the Mountlake Terrace Farmer’s Market this year.
After it’s inaugural season last year, the Mountlake Terrace Business Association has decided to hire a new market manager, Erin Lane, to handle the operations of the market. Lane is a 15-year MLT resident and participated as a vendor in the market last year. She owns Siochain Lavender and has marketing experience in the natural food products industry.
Another big change is that the market will now be on Fridays, rather than Thursdays as it was last year. There were a number of reasons for the day change including greater vendor availability.
Because of the day change, there are a few loose ends that need to be tied up with the City: the two-year agreement with the city will need an amendment approved by the City Council to permit the date change as well as an amendment to permit use of the Civic Campus parking lot for entertainment and seating. The parking ordinance, that prohibits parking on 58th Avenue where the market is located, would also need to be amended to reflect the change from Thursday to Friday.
It is anticipated the market will open on Friday, May 20 and run through October 7.
Will the day change from Thursday to Friday be more convenient for you?
Love the change to Friday. Hope to see more arts and crafts!
How does one sign up to be a vendor?
Fridays are great!!
Friday would be nice. More people are in weekend mode, some take the day off early, and it’s a nice start to going out for both young, old and families. Thursday worked ok, but as that’s the home stretch for the week we tended to forget the market was happening until too late.
