Explorer Post Wins Top Honors

Recently, a three-member team from the City of Mountlake Terrace Police Department Explorer Post attended a weeklong training academy held at the Army’s Yakima Training Center. Two of those attendees received awards during the event. Justin Frazier placed first in the basic drilling (marching) competition and Richard Rivera placed first in advanced drilling. Additionally, Rivera placed first overall in advanced training. He received second place in the physical agility competition.

The academy, hosted by the Washington State Law Enforcement Explorer Association, offers police academy related training to members of police explorer
posts throughout the state.

The City of Mountlake Terrace Police Explorer Program, which has grown to 12 personnel and is led by Detective Tim Krahn, is designed to bridge the gap between youth and police through education and involvement in police operations and promote an interest in Law Enforcement. The explorer program promotes education, encourages participation in a rewarding and productive service activity and prepares young people for their future as citizens and community leaders.
