Drivers are being advised of potential delays around the heavily-traveled intersection of 244th Street Southwest and 56th Avenue West on Thursday and Friday, Oct. 18 and 19, as crews will be replacing the traffic signal loops embedded in the roadway.
Traffic may be restricted to a single lane through the intersection during the street work, said Mountlake Terrace Traffic Engineer Janet Hall. Flag crews will be used to assist motorists through the work zone.
The replacement of the signal loops became necessary following the street work finished last week that including grinding away the old surface and completing a new overlay on 244th Street SW. Earlier Puget Sound Energy crews had replaced an underground gas line running east-to-west beneath the roadway.
The work to replace the intersection’s traffic signal loops, scheduled for 8:30 a.m.-4 p.m. each day, is dependent upon dry weather, Hall said.
